Chess Club took 2nd Place at its first tournament of the season on Saturday at Arma. Congratulations to 14 medalists for their individual play, beginning with Vann Trester who finished in 1st place. He was followed by Wesley Steves in 5th, Josiah Bates in 6th and Andrew Woods in 9th. The next chess tournament will be Saturday, Oct. 19, at CHerryvale.
Chess practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 3:45 in room 118. Anyone interested in learning to play should see Miss Bourne or Mrs. Bolt for a parent permission slip.
Dodgeball Tournament for Adopt-A-Child: There will be a 5-on-5 Dodgeball Tournament on Friday, October 25. Cost is $30 a team. Each team must have at least two females. Games begin after school. Winning team gets pizza for lunch. There will also be a last person standing contest in between the games. Cost to enter is $1. Winner receives a Sonic Drink. There will also be an amazing snack bar with lots of new goodies. All proceeds go to adopt-a-child.
Running Club is underway. Students will run 4 days a week and should be done in time for those who ride the 4 PM bus home. Those who don’t ride the bus can stay and get a longer workout or route in. See Ms. Jones for more information.

Reminder to all students: Please remember that our dress code expectations apply to all students. You must follow the rules. IF you show up to school with clothes that are not compliant with our dress code rules, we will assume you are intentionally not following them, and you will be assigned to ISS for the day.
School IDs: The price for IDs is $2.50. That will get you the ID and the sleeve. If you need a lanyard the cost will be $3.50.
According to the handbook: All students are to be off school grounds unless under supervision of a teacher or coach. That means, no hanging around in the commons or other areas, including outside on the school grounds. If you are done with a teacher at 3:15, please come to the office and call for a ride home. The 4:00 bus is intended for those who are staying for ESD/EADs, tutoring, etc. and are here until 3:45 or 4:00. If you are done with one teacher at 3:15, it is okay to find another one who can supervise you reading or working, but you must be sitting in a classroom if you are sticking around.
All enrollment forms can be completed and fees paid online.
Students who finished the 2018-2019 school year with Chanute Public Schools sould have received an email with directions and a code to enroll online. Parents who did not receive a code or whose email has changed should use the link below to update their address.
To enroll, parents of returning or new-to-district and kindergarten students should go to the Enroll Online Tab Button on the district’s website. Click on the link for new student OR returning student.
School offices are open for parents who want to use a school computer to enroll. Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays.
